About me
“There are many in the jewellery trade who think luxury, sustainability and ethics don’t go together. It doesn’t have to be that way, it’s entirely possible to make ethical, sustainable luxury jewellery – I do it every single day”.
I’m an artist as well as being a goldsmith, which is where my difference lies. The jewellery I create isn’t just about the mechanics of making a setting or a mount, each piece has layers of depth and meaning that tell a story. I think and care deeply about my work, I want it to be the best it can be. I’m known for meticulous craftsmanship and level of finish and each element of a design is very carefully considered.
My designs are intuitive and intentional, my inspiration comes from nature itself – the great outdoors. I live in the wilds of Dumfries and Galloway, I love the big skies, the open spaces and the freedom. The smell of the sea, or the scent of pine, birds wheeling overhead. The earthy smell you get after it rains, endless blue skies on a sunny day or the valley and hills muffled and blanketed by snow.
I work really closely with my customers, I want to get to know you and I’m genuinely interested to hear you talk about what really matters – this is important stuff. Especially if we’re working together on a bespoke piece of “story” jewellery.
My business ethics are the same as my personal ones – sustainability, honesty, integrity, care. I want my work to be a force for good, not harm. I work with ethical suppliers I know and trust and I source my gold by recovering pure gold from worn out old jewellery. It’s more sustainable and offers a greater level of traceability.
