This sustainable wedding ring forms part of my Lichen collection. It is inspired by lichen and the growth patterns they create. Lichens are tough little organisms that not only survive, but thrive, in some of the most inhospitable places on the planet. Did you know that lichens are actually 2 (or more) organisms? Lichens can survive alone, but do better in company, much like people, hence the perfect, symbolic choice for wedding and engagement rings.
This sustainable wedding ring is ethical and eco friendly, the gold is Fairmined and the platinum is 100% recycled.
The gemstones in the matching engagement ring are sourced from Sri Lanka and Tanzania, they meet fair trade principles, are traceable and conflict free. I use these particular gemstones because I believe that they benefit artisan miners the most.
Artisan mining is small scale and has a lesser environmental impact, furthermore, artisan miners are often making a living in the only way they can. Many miners are also female.
I source my natural diamonds from Canada, where they are guaranteed conflict free and traceable. Alternatively, lab created diamonds are available for those who would prefer to avoid the environmental issues related to diamond mining.
