Kalimera & Kalinihta Assos Ring
£520.00 – £640.00
An ethical and sustainable, textured silver and 9ct gold ring
The ocean inspired Assos ring makes a perfect ethical silver engagement ring. Equally these beautiful rings don’t have to be for an engagement, you can have one simply because you love them.
Each one is hand made from recycled sterling silver and 9ct gold. The band is sand textured, with a light catching planished edge and with a brushed finish. Available as a narrow (3mm) or wide (5mm) band. The narrow band takes an approx 2.5mm/.06 carat gemstone, the 5mm band takes an approx 4mm/.25 carat gemstone.
Each gemstone is responsibly sourced and meets the principles of Fair Trade. Every stone mined will be different, so if you’d like to know more about your gemstone, or choose from a selection, please let me know.
The 5mm bands have a choice of sky blue topaz from Brazil, or Spinel from Sri Lanka or Tanzania. Spinel come in grey, pink, purple and teal blue.
The 3mm bands have a choice of blue sapphires from Sri Lanka and Malawi or parti sapphires from Australia in combinations of green, blue, yellow and teal.
The Kalimera/Kalinihta collection was inspired by the ocean and summers in the Greek Islands. I designed this collection whilst sitting on the pretty Assos beach.
Can you feel your toes in the sand and the sun on your skin? See the pretty coloured houses tumble down the cypress strewn hillside to the sea. The dark green of the olive trees, the aquamarine of the sea, ripples on the sea bed and the way the colours change as day becomes night and the boats bob at anchor in the harbour?
Kalimera means good morning – bright silver and gold, I chose pastel coloured stones and aquamarine blues.
Kalinihta means good night – oxidised silver and darker stones, reminiscent of an inky blue sea in the moonlight.
Faceted stones are round, like the sun and the moon.
This ethical and eco friendly collection is also vegan and vegetarian friendly – no animal products are ever used in the making of my jewellery, in my workshop or packaging.
Current Stock levels: 5mm wide band, white silver finish, with a 4mm blue spinel, size O and a 3mm wide band, oxidised finish with a pink spinel. Otherwise, each ring is hand made to order before being hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office. Your ring will be delivered in 4-6 weeks.

CAN’T FIND YOUR RING SIZE ON THE WEBSITE?
If you can’t find your size in the drop-down menu, just send me an email with your requested size and I’ll send you a quote. If it’s smaller than the sizes given on the website, the price will remain the same, if it’s larger it will be a little more expensive.
NOT SURE OF YOUR RING SIZE?
I can pop a plastic ring sizer in the post or you can nip into your local jeweller and ask them to measure your finger. A wide band will usually fit half to one size bigger than a thin band, so take this into account when getting sized.
I only use ethical, responsibly sourced or sustainable recycled metals and stones in my jewellery.
You can choose from recycled silver, recycled gold, fairly traded gold or recycled platinum for your metal
Then choose from responsibly sourced, traceable, coloured gemstones, that support charitable initiatives where possible.
or
Conflict free natural Canadian diamonds or laboratory created diamonds.
No child labour is ever involved.
I can also source antique/recycled diamonds, ask for more information
My jewellery and packaging is vegan friendly.

BESPOKE SERVICE, WEDDING RINGS AND ENGAGEMENT RINGS
There are NO REFUNDS or exchanges for bespoke commissioned pieces, wedding rings or engagement rings. Customised pieces, bangles and rings are all made to your specific size and requirements and therefore can not be returned either. Earrings are unable to be returned due to health and safety. However, if the item is found to be faulty, I reserve the right to repair the item first or re-make the item for you.
For further information please go to my terms and conditions.
DO YOU HAVE A SHOP OR SHOWROOM I CAN VISIT?
Yes, you are welcome to visit my showroom and studio at 38 Henry Street, Langholm, Dumfries and Galloway, DG13 0AS. The studio is open for people to drop in, every Thursday afternoon from 12.30 till 4.30pm. Alternatively you can make an appointment, please get in touch to arrange this.
HOW LONG WILL MY ORDER TAKE TO ARRIVE?
If you’ve purchased a silver item, I aim to post your order within 3-5 working days. Silver bangles and rings are made to your precise size and so take longer, usually 4-6 weeks. Engagement rings from my collections usually take around 4-6 weeks from the order date to be made. Customised pieces take 6-8 weeks and I operate a waiting list for bespoke and remodelling. If you need your jewellery sooner then please let me know and I’ll see if I can meet your deadline.
HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY CHOSEN ITEM IS ETHICALLY SOURCED?
I only use fair trade or recycled metals and ethically sourced gemstones and Canadian diamonds for my jewellery. The only exception is where you choose antique or recycled diamonds. There is no way to find out how or where they were originally mined, however this is a more sustainable option. You can find out more here.
I CANNOT FIND MY SIZE ON YOUR WEBSITE, WHAT IF MY FINGER SIZE IS BIGGER OR SMALLER, CAN YOU ALSO MAKE IT?
Yes – just drop me an email for a quote and advice on how to go about ordering. Requests for smaller sized rings will be quoted at the same price. Larger sizes will be a little more expensive.
CAN I ASK FOR MY JEWELLERY TO HAVE A DIFFERENT CHAIN OR TYPE OF EAR WIRE?
Yes, you can. Don’t forget, I’m happy to customise any piece to make it a bit more “you”. Find out more here.
IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE IN COLOUR BETWEEN RECYCLED GOLD AND FAIR TRADE GOLD?
No. For both yellow and white gold, the colour will be the same, whether you choose recycled or fair trade.
I’D LIKE TO CUSTOMISE A PIECE OF JEWELLERY, HOW DOES IT WORK?
It’s easy, just get in touch and lets have a chat about what you’d like to do. I’ll then provide a quotation based on your changes, which will be the standard price plus or minus the cost of the changes.
HOW MUCH DO YOUR BESPOKE PIECES COST?
I quote for each piece individually, based on the type and amount of metal needed, any gemstones or diamonds and the amount of time needed to make your piece. As a rough guide, a bespoke “Story” piece in 18ct gold would cost from around £3500. Find out more here.
I’D LIKE TO COMMISSION A UNIQUE PIECE BASED ON OUR TRAVELS, CAN YOU DO THIS?
This sounds like the perfect starting point for one of my story pieces, you can find out more here.
