Kalimera “Ripple” Engagement Ring
£2,215.00 – £3,760.00
An ethical and sustainable engagement ring choice.
This vegan friendly engagement ring forms part of my ocean inspired Kalimera Collection. Kalimera means good morning in Greek and this beautiful ocean inspired collection was designed during time spent in the Greek Islands. The ripple effect band is reminiscent of ripples on the sand and waves on the ocean. The band measures approx 1.7mm wide x 1.9mm thick.
Each ring is set with an approx 0.8ct oval sapphire measuring approx 7 x 5mm, but you could customise this ring with a different shape, size or type of gemstone or conflict free diamond. This ring has a rub over setting - a secure and practical choice for the modern bride as the setting won't catch on clothing in the way a claw setting might.
The blue sapphires I use in this ring are sourced from Sri Lanka, Malawi and Australia. they meet fair trade principles, are traceable and conflict free.
The Sri Lankan sapphires are pale blue, the Malawi sapphires are a deeper blue, whilst the Australian sapphires are blue/green or yellow/green. If you choose an Australian sapphire, please pop a note of your colour preference in the order notes.
Artisan mining is small scale and has a lesser environmental impact, furthermore, artisan miners are often making a living in the only way they can. Many miners are also female.
Each stone is natural and will therefore be slightly different. If you would like to know more about your particular stone, please get in touch. I'm happy to source other types and colours of gemstone or diamond, the first image show this ring with a rhodolite garnet, the second shows it set with a blue/green Australian sapphire If you'd like something different, please just get in touch, in the meantime, click here for more information.
Available in 100% recycled gold or platinum & fairly traded gold, this ring is a responsible, sustainable and eco friendly choice for the bride with an environmental and social conscience.
My white gold rings are not rhodium plated, instead, I use high quality gold alloys that do not require this - this is more expensive at the start, but saves you the cost and hassle of having your rings re-plated every 6-12 months.
Each ring is handmade to order before being hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office. Your ring will be delivered in 4-6 weeks.
There is also a matching shaped to fit wedding band to go with this ring.
As always this engagement ring is also vegan and vegetarian friendly - no animal products are ever used in the making of my jewellery, in my workshop or packaging.

CAN’T FIND YOUR RING SIZE ON THE WEBSITE?
If you can’t find your size in the drop-down menu, just send me an email with your requested size and I’ll send you a quote. If it’s smaller than the sizes given on the website, the price will remain the same, if it’s larger it will be a little more expensive.
RING SIZING
Ideally you’ll know the right size to order, but if not, there’s a few things I can suggest.
If your partner/fiancée has a ring you know that fits their engagement ring finger, you can send it to me and I’ll take a sizing from it. Alternatively nip it in to your local jeweller and they should be able to tell you the size too.
I can send you a plastic ring sizer, or a set of metal ring sizers (a deposit is required), if your other half is a heavy sleeper, or if it’s not a surprise proposal.
You could also enlist the help of one of their friends with a jewellery shopping trip in order to find out their size.
There are also ways of estimating finger size, based on the size of other fingers – drop me an email for a chat about this.
Most of my engagement rings offer free resizing within 6 months, so you’re covered if you get it wrong ☺
I only use ethical & responsibly sourced or recycled, sustainable metals, gemstones and diamonds in my jewellery.
Choose from recycled or fairly traded precious metal
Then choose responsibly sourced and traceable coloured gemstones, that support charitable initiatives where possible
or
Conflict free natural Canadian, or laboratory created diamonds
Alternatively you could choose antique/recycled diamonds (sourced to order, please ask)
No child labour
Vegan friendly

HOW LONG WILL MY ORDER TAKE TO ARRIVE?
If you’ve purchased a silver item, I aim to post your order within 3-5 working days. Silver bangles and rings are made to your precise size and so take longer, around 4-6 weeks. Engagement rings from my collections usually take around 4-6 weeks from the order date to be made. Customised pieces take 6-8 weeks. I operate a waiting list for bespoke orders (including remodelling) If you need yours sooner then please let me know and I’ll see if I can meet your deadline.
DO YOU HAVE A SHOWROOM WHERE I CAN TRY YOUR ENGAGEMENT RINGS?
Yes, I do, you can visit me at 38 Henry St, Langholm, Dumfries and Galloway, DG13 0AS. The showroom and workshop are open every Thursday from 12.30pm till 4.30pm, appointments are available outwith these times and on Saturday mornings. You can make an appointment here.
HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY CHOSEN ITEM IS ETHICALLY SOURCED?
I only use fairly traded or recycled metals and ethically sourced gemstones and Canadian diamonds for my jewellery. The only exception to this is where you choose antique or recycled diamonds. There is no way to find out how or where they were originally mined but this is a more sustainable choice. You can find out more here. Each engagement ring comes will a certificate stating it’s ethical credentials.
I CAN’T FIND MY SIZE ON YOUR WEBSITE, WHAT IF MY FINGER SIZE IS BIGGER OR SMALLER, CAN YOU ALSO MAKE IT?
Yes – just drop me an email for a quote and advice on how to go about ordering. Requests for smaller sized rings will be quoted at the same price. Larger sizes will be a little more expensive.
CAN I ASK FOR MY ENGAGEMENT RING TO BE IN A DIFFERENT FINISH E.G. MATT OR HAMMERED?
Yes, you can. Don’t forget, I’m happy to customise any piece to make it a bit more “you”. I can make wedding rings to match any engagement ring, or you can create something bespoke. Find out more here.
WHAT IS FAIRLY TRADED ECO GOLD?
Fairly traded eco gold goes a step further in that it has all the benefits of supporting artisanal and small scale miners and their communities, but does not use cyanide or mercury in the processing of the gold ore. This helps to safeguard the local environment and is better for the health of the miners.
IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE IN COLOUR BETWEEN RECYCLED GOLD AND FAIRLY TRADED GOLD?
No. Whether your jewellery is yellow, rose or white gold, the colour will be the same, whether you choose recycled or fairly traded gold.
IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 9CT GOLD AND 18CT GOLD?
Yes. The difference is metal hardness and colour. 9ct is softer and thus slightly less durable than 18ct. There’s also a difference in colour when it comes to yellow gold; 9ct yellow is always slightly whiter than 18ct. 9ct white is a slightly warmer colour than 18ct white, which is more steely due to the palladium white gold alloy I use. 9ct rose gold is more rose/red than 18ct rose gold. I do not plate any of my gold rings, instead I use more expensive gold alloys that don’t need plating. This way you don’t need to worry about the plating wearing off and needing to be redone.
CAN YOU MAKE PALLADIUM WEDDING BANDS?
Yes, I can. Palladium prices are at an all time high, so unless you want a very wide band that might be overly heavy in platinum, I’d suggest you choose platinum – it’s cheaper just now than palladium.
I’M WORRIED THAT I MIGHT BE ALLERGIC TO YOUR WEDDING BANDS?
It’s hard to give a definitive answer as it very much depends on the person. It’s unusual to be allergic to gold, more likely it’s something in the particular alloy. If you know what it is that causes your reaction, get in touch and I’ll try to help. Many people are allergic to nickel, which was alloyed in sterling silver some years ago (it isn’t used any more due to EU regulations) and nickel was sometimes used in white gold alloys, which I also don’t use. My high quality 18ct white gold alloy uses palladium for a better white colour and doesn’t need to be plated.
I’D LIKE TO CUSTOMISE A RING, HOW DOES IT WORK?
It’s easy, just get in touch and lets have a chat about what you’d like to do. I’ll then provide a quotation based on your changes, which will be the standard price plus or minus the cost of the changes.
HOW MUCH DO YOUR BESPOKE ENGAGEMENT RINGS COST?
I quote for each piece individually, based on the type and amount of metal needed, any gemstones or diamonds and the amount of time needed to make your piece. As a rough guide, a bespoke “Story” engagement ring in 18ct gold would cost from around £3500. Find out more here.
I’D LIKE TO COMMISSION A UNIQUE PIECE BASED ON OUR TRAVELS, CAN YOU DO THIS?
This sounds like the perfect starting point for one of my story pieces, you can find out more here.
